If you are curious about anything more just ask.įort Gordon is overcrowded and very VERY "Garrison." What I mean by that, is that there are tons of details, ceremonies, visits by Generals, and it's all very busy busy.ĪIT was like the "high school" of my Army Career. I'd specify but there just isn't enough time on this planet to list my complaints about being signal in signal. I speak from experience when I say things are just absolutely jacked up in most signal units. If you can absolutely avoid going to signal units. They go from being a signal guy to being "commo" which means that general experience in all things signal comes in super handy to the bang-bangs and the boom-booms. The ideal place for a 25U to get their best job related experience is with a combat/deploying unit because what I just mentioned is quite the opposite in the field. I work in an EOD unit as the s6 (IT shop) and the guys next to me just do computer stuff and other than maintaining tactical equipment there isnt much for them to do. Because of this spread out training they can be sent to pretty much any unit. While their primary training covers all the tactical aspects of signal (basic radio, signal flow, tactical satellite, basic computing) they tend to not focus entirely too much on anything. As a uniform you will be kind of on the outside of the AIT area, but just keep your nose clean and smile at the leadership and you will have higher privileges much sooner than obvious others to your left and right.Īs for your technical training, uniforms are the jack of all trades in the signal branch. I have not too much great to say about the post itself. BCT comes first and its important that you learn to just suck things up and be a soldier in general before you worry about anything technical, but dont sell your choice short as signal is the most civilian employable branch in the army outside of intelligence.įort Gordon is a monster. The first is dont worry about your MOS until you start getting trained in it. I can tell you several things about your MOS. I work in an office with 2 uniforms (25U).
